| Continuing Legal Education Committee |

Establishing a dedicated continuing legal education programme for the KL Bar. |

Offering members and pupils, through its programme, the opportunity to fortify their basic legal skills and to keep themselves abreast of developments in their area of expertise. |

The avowed purpose of the programme is also to inculcate and imbue the importance of professional development. |

| Conveyancing Practice Committee |

Catering to the needs and demands of KL Bar members who practise conveyancing. |

| Court Liaison Committee (Civil) |

Continuous communication with the Courts for the betterment of administration of justice and the KL Bar. |

Setting in place a procedure and system to enhance the practice of law in the KL Courts. |

Dealing with complaints of members of the KL Bar in relation to their practice in the KL Courts. |

| Criminal Practice Committee |

Continuous communication with the Criminal Courts, the Police and other relevant stakeholders for the betterment of administration of criminal justice. |

Setting in place a procedure and system to enhance the practice of criminal law in the KL Courts. |

Dealing with complaints of members of the KL Bar in relation to their criminal practice in the KL Courts. |

| Environmental Law Committee |

Creating awareness of environmental issues among lawyers. |

Building network with the relevant players in the industry and government. Highlighting and educating industry on key environmental issues and help develop the field of environmental practice in Malaysia. |

Reviewing and if required, proposing changes to Malaysian legislation affecting the environment with a view to an efficient and concerted protection of the environment. |

| Information Technology (IT) Committee |

Promoting the use of IT by lawyers. |

Exploring new ways in which IT can improve members’ professional practice. |

Responsible for the enhancement of the IT system at the KL Bar Secretariat. |

Overseeing the management of the KL Bar Website (www.klbar.org.my). |

| Legal Aid Management Panel |

Management and overseeing the running of the Bar Council Legal Aid Centre (Kuala Lumpur). |

The main objectives of the Legal Aid Centre are:
- Protecting and assisting the public in all matters touching ancillary or incidental to the law.
- Making provision for or assisting in the promotion of a scheme whereby impecunious persons may be represented by advocates and solicitors. |

Publication of the quarterly newsletter of the KL Bar, Relevan and the Annual Report of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee. |

Relevan consists of articles touching on legal issues, human rights, information technology and interviews with Judges and Lawyers and is also a vehicle for keeping members informed of the activities of the various sub-committees. |

Improving the quality of the workings of the legal system and integrating the working relationship between young legal practitioners. |
