Assigned Counsel by the Court in Capital Cases
We refer to our e-mail newsletter of 02.03.2010 in respect of the above matter. The Bar Council is requesting all State Bar Committees to re-submit a list of members for the Bar Council's compilation of assigned Counsel for capital cases in light of the finalised Court Assigned Counsel Guidelines which it has just received from the Office of the Chief Registrar. Members who satisfy the criteria set out in the Guidelines and are keen to be considered as candidates for the Registry of Assigned Counsel maintained in the Federal Court, the Court of Appeal and the High Court to take on assigned capital cases are kindly requested to complete the attached Form and return it to the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee by 19 May 2010.
Kindly take note that all selected applicants are required to strictly adhere to all the criteria laid down in the Guidelines. Members are therefore advised to study the guidelines carefully before submitting their applications.
