The late Vijayaram Krishnan was born on 15 May 1943. A barrister-at-law from the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, he was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 29 June 1970. He was a consultant in the firm of Ranjit Ooi & Robert Low at the time of his demise on 17 September 2007.

VK, as he was fondly known, was elected and served as a Bar Council member for the following terms: 1975/76 right up to 1988/89 and subsequently for the 2 terms of 1992/93 and 1993/94. When he was elected to the Bar Council in 1975, he was the youngest Bar member to be so elected, being only in practice for 4 years; at that time, the 7-year ruling had not been introduced. He was also elected as the Secretary of the Bar Council for 2 terms: 1978/79 and 1979/80.

In 1981, VK was elected as the Chairman of the Selangor & Federal Territory Bar Committee and he held the position for 4 terms. When the KL Bar was established on 1 July 1992, he became its first Representative to the Bar Council and held the position for 2 terms.
