Mr. Au Yeong Khuen was born in Batu Gajah, Perak on 1 October 1939. He was a Bachelor of Law and Letters Honours graduate of the University of Singapore and was called to the Malaysian Bar in April 1965. He had since then been practising law.

Mr. Au Yeong was attached to K.L. Devaser and Co. between 1966 and 1967. Thereafter he joined Lovelace and Hastings as a partner and practised in the said firm between 1968 and 1974. He left Lovelace and Hastings in 1974 and was attached to E.Lim and Co. between 1974 and 1977, K.S. Tan and Co. between 1978 and 1981 and Adlan and Haji Suhaimi between 1982 and 1992.
 
From 1 May 1992, Mr. Au Yeong practised as a legal assistant with Harun Idris, Yeoh & Partners until he passed away peacefully after a short illness on 16 June 2009 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Foong Suet Har.

News of his demise on 16 June 2009 impacted heavily not only on the lives of his beloved family but friends, partners, staff and all those who knew him as Au Yeong was such a carefree, wonderful, cheerful and helpful person.
