As young professionals, are we managing our finances well? Finance Management is undoubtedly one of the most challenging areas that is faced by young lawyers. The speakers would be sharing through their experiences and also give useful tips on this issue.
About the Speakers
Seira Sacha Abu Bakar obtained her Law Degree from the University of London through their external programme in Kemayan Advance Tutorial Centre. In 2003, she completed her Certificate of Legal Practice from the same institution. She then joined Messrs Albar & Partners for her pupilage. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on October 2004. She is currently an associate with Messrs Vazeer Akbar Majid & Co.Her main area of practice is general litigation. Occasionally she dabbles in criminal practice and public interest litigation.
Syahredzan Johan read law at Cardiff University, United Kingdom and graduated in 2005. He completed his Bar Vocational Course in 2006 and then called to the Bar of England and Wales. He returned to Malaysia on the same year and read in chamber s at Messrs. RamRais & Partners. He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 05 October 2007. He is now a partner at Messrs. RamRais & Partners. His main area of practice is general litigation, in a wide range of matter s such as debt recovery, breach of contract , probate and administration, intellectual property, criminal , corporate, employment/industrial relations , banking, tort and public interest litigation such relating to human rights and the Constitution.
Jeremiah R. Gurusamy has been involved in the corporate sector since 1997. Prior to being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor, he was attached to the legal documentation unit of the corporate banking arm of one of the leading banking groups in Malaysia for 2 years. Thereafter he started his legal career in one of the large Kuala Lumpur based legal firm and was part of the offshore banking, corporate and commercial practice group. Over the years, he has acted for a wide range of clients from various industries and has extensive experience in corporate banking, project financing, mergers & acquisitions, employment disputes, corporate commercial and capital markets. He is a Partner with Messrs. Arianti Dipendra Jeremiah, a corporate boutique firm. He regularly delivers talks to members of the Malaysian Bar and is a guest lecturer at Universities and Colleges. He also presents lectures to the corporate sector on various topics.
Janet Chai Pei Ying commenced her legal practice in February 2006, and handles a wide range of commercial dispute matters ranging from contractual disputes to conspiracy and fraud matters. Janet graduated from the University of Sheffield and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2004.
Sri Sarguna Raj is an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. Sri holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from King’s College London, United Kingdom. Sri was awarded the Malaysian Law Scholarship 1999 which is a full scholarship awarded by the University of London to read law at King’s College London. Sri’s main area of practice is intellectual property litigation. He also writes regularly for numerous IP publications including publications such as Managing Intellectual Property and World Trademark Review.
Teh Tai Yong is a practicing lawyer in Selangor, Malaysia. He is a partner of Messrs Teh Kim Teh, Salina & Co., a law firm based in Kota Damansara and Setia Alam. He holds an honours degree in Law from the University of London and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Malaya. He was also admitted to the Bar of England and Wales as a Barrister-at-Law and is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn, United Kingdom. His areas of practice include Property, Banking, Corporate & Commercial, Privacy & Data Protection Laws. He is passionate about real estate investment and is an active property investor.
