11. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE ("PDC")

Pupils are strongly encouraged to attend at least four PDC sessions during their pupillage pursuant to the resolution that was passed by the KL Bar at its Annual General Meeting on 09.03.2006. Pupils will be presented with a Certificate of Attendance for each PDC session that they attend to its completion.

12. ADMISSION FEE

Pupils are required to pay an Admission Fee of RM200 to the Disciplinary Board and a copy of the receipt must be produced when filing their final papers for their Admission to the Bar.

13. CONFIDENTIAL REPORT

Pupils are expected to check with the Bar Council (Admission Department) to ensure that their respective Confidential Reports have been forwarded to the Court before filing their final papers for their Admission to the Bar.

14. COUNSEL FOR MOVING ADMISSIONS TO THE BAR

On the hearing date of the Pupil's Admission to the Bar, a Counsel who has been in practice for more than seven (7) years must appear on the Pupil's behalf to move the Petition for Admission. That Counsel cannot be the Pupil’s Master. It is however, the Master's obligation to arrange for a Counsel to move the Petition of his/her pupil. Pupils are advised to inform the Bar Committee of the names of the Counsel moving their Petitions for Admission to the Bar.

15. ADMISSION TO THE BAR DAY

Petitioners are advised to be in Court for the hearing of their Admission to the Bar half an hour before time fully dressed (except the Robe) and check against Court's Admission to the Bar list for seating purposes and recording of names of Counsel moving the Petitions.

16. APPROVAL OF ADMISSION TO THE BAR ORDERS

The Order granted in respect of a Petition for Admission, (if prepared beforehand) is normally approved in the Courtroom by Counsel involved immediately after the hearing of the Admission to the Bar.

In cases where the draft Order is not, or cannot be approved, immediately after the hearing of the Admission to the Bar, the draft Order should be sent to the respective Counsel at his/her address for approval. In such a case, the Petitioner is advised to first call the particular representative beforehand and preferably forward the draft Order to him/her with a letter requesting that the Order be approved.

Ensure that all details are filled in before handing in the draft Order for approval. It is advisable to prepare beforehand and have available the draft Order.

17. SERVICE OF ADMISSION TO THE BAR ORDER

Admission to the Bar Order must be filed, extracted and a copy to be given to the Attorney General's Chambers, Bar Council and State Bar Committee.

There is no necessity to file an Affidavit of Service for the service of Admission to the Bar Order.

Petitioners are advised to always keep their fair Order; copy of the Order is required to be produced the first time an application for a Practising Certificate is made.
